Look on the Bright Side

This cartoon is called "Look On The Bright Side". The author chose this name to portray the way that the government is trying to avert the general public's attention from the deficit crisis.
In the cartoon there is a plane on the verge of crashing with "Deficit Crisis", this plane is being piloted by the 2 political parties, one of them saying if they look out the other side there are things more pleasant. The cartoon is trying to say that we should in fact be focusing on how to fix this crisis instead of just ignoring it as the government in this cartoon suggests. I think that he cartoonist is liberal .

Barber Shops

This cartoon is called "Barber Shop". This cartoon is representing how barber shops are under the 2011 budget and how they will be under the 2012 budget.
The 2011 barber shop looks to be a regular barbershop with both of the political parties inside, while the shop under the 2012 budget is a guillotine outside.
Since all of the tax cuts that the republicans are proposing will take effect in 2012 this cartoon shows that the 2012 barber shop simply cuts off peoples heads to give haircuts. The cartoon is trying to show us all of the simple amenities that will be negatively affected by all of the tax cuts. The cartoonist im most likely a liberal.
In this cartoon the Uncle Sam is Being beaten with a Paddle with "Taxes" written on it, while a man representing the left asking if he can get another. The creator of this cartoon is trying to say that the democrats are beating down the country with taxes and continue to ask for more. This cartoon relates because republicans are trying to get a lot of tax cuts while democrats call for more. The cartoonist is probably a conservative.

The Biggest Loser

This cartoon is called the Biggest Loser. In this cartoon the deficit is personified by a very large man trying to lose weight on the show the biggest loser. His coach is supposed to be the democratic party telling him "looking good", while the scale the man is standing on is breaking and says "Fail". Also the sign saying "The Biggest Loser" is pointing at the donkey, saying that the democratic party is the one losing from the deficit growing larger.
This cartoon relates and is ironic because because the Democrats are trying to cut the deficit while it continues to grow larger.
I think that the author of this cartoon is most likely conservative.

In this cartoon there is a sleeping man on a globe representing europe, and in the background we can see Libya which seems to be in turmoil from the looks of the picture.
The artist is trying to say that Europe is basically sleeping/doing nothing while there is all of this chaos going on around them in Libya.

The cartoon is basically a Picture of the dictator of Libya Gaddafi made out of what looks to be missiles and bombs.
It explains how he is ruling his country by bombing the people to put down uprisings, and cleverly uses a play on words in the title: (reign-rain). The events in Libya started after seeing Egypt revolt against their government. This government is trying hard not to let this happen and is going to very extreme measures to do so.

The Camels Nose

This Cartoon is called the camels nose. They used this title because the camels nose is a metaphor that means when something small is permitted it will lead to something big/undesirable, or the entire thing.
"If the camel once gets his nose in the tent, his body will soon follow."

In this cartoon the tent represents Egypt and the camel represents democracy.
The camel representing democracy is peeking its nose under the tent, and as the metaphor says once the nose is in the tent, the body will soon follow. The artist is saying that the little bit of democracy peeking through in Egypt led to an entire revolution, ie the entire camel went into the tent.

In class we discussed how the young people empowered with the internet basically started the revolution and ended a 30 year dictatorship.
